Music queen Shakira has brought her classic hit “Hips Don’t Lie” back to life with a brand-new collaboration featuring Ed Sheeran and Beéle, released today as part of her Spotify Anniversary Special.
The new version celebrates 20 years of her album Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 and 30 years of Pies Descalzos — two milestones that shaped Shakira’s incredible journey from Latin pop star to global icon.
“This edition of Spotify Anniversary is dedicated to all my fans around the world,” Shakira shared. “Thank you for walking with me through these 30 years.”
The 2025 Version
Recorded at Power Station Studio A in New York City, the new performance blends Shakira’s fiery energy, Ed Sheeran’s soulful voice, and Beéle’s tropical rhythms — giving the timeless song a modern Latin-fusion twist.
This special session is streaming exclusively on Spotify as part of the “Anniversary Sessions” series.

The 2006 Original That Changed Everything
The original “Hips Don’t Lie” featuring Wyclef Jean was released in 2006 and became an instant global phenomenon — topping Billboard Hot 100, reaching #1 in 55+ countries, and breaking digital sales records.
With over 2 billion Spotify streams and 1 billion YouTube views, it remains one of the most recognized songs of the 2000s.
Shakira famously said she knew the song was special because “my hips don’t lie” — a phrase that went on to define her career.
