Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G brings a premium experience to the budget segment with features that make it stand out. Here’s our detailed take.

Design & Build
The Galaxy A17 features a well-finished plastic body that feels solid in hand. The volume and power buttons on the right are slightly raised for better grip, complemented by a fast side-mounted fingerprint sensor. On the left, the SIM tray supports either two SIM cards or a SIM plus microSD card. The phone also offers IP54 water and dust resistance and comes with Gorilla Glass protection for the display.

Display
The smartphone sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth scrolling and vibrant colors. While the bezels are slightly thick, the display provides great contrast and excellent outdoor visibility. The speaker system is clear even at high volumes, making it perfect for media consumption.

Camera Setup
Samsung equips the Galaxy A17 with a triple rear camera setup:

  • 50MP main lens with OIS for stable and detailed photos

  • 5MP ultra-wide lens for scenic shots

  • 2MP macro lens for close-ups

The main camera performs well in daylight and low-light situations, producing sharp photos with accurate colors and good dynamic range. The ultra-wide camera works best in well-lit conditions, while the macro lens can deliver impressive close-ups with sufficient lighting. The 13MP front camera is capable of detailed selfies, though good lighting improves results. Video recording is 1080p, but 4K is not supported.

Performance
Powered by the Exynos 1335 chipset and up to 8GB RAM, the Galaxy A17 delivers smooth multitasking and gaming. Our 6GB variant handled apps, BGMI, and Asphalt without lag or overheating. Samsung’s One UI adds features like Dual Messenger, Digital Well-being, Modes & Routines, and Labs for experimental features.

Battery & Charging
The phone comes with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging with a USB-C to C charger included. A full charge takes roughly 1 hour 10 minutes, and battery optimization ensures minimal standby drain.

Software Updates
Samsung promises 6 years of OS and security updates, making the Galaxy A17 a long-term choice for budget-conscious buyers.

Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G delivers a well-rounded experience with a good display, reliable performance, and excellent battery life. While the lack of 4K video recording might be a downside for some, it remains a solid option in the budget segment.
