Hosted by Kathmandu University School of Management

The conference will be organized in partnership with the Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM). This is a major achievement for Nepal, as it places the country at the center of important discussions about the future of tourism in the Asia-Pacific region.

Main Theme: Regenerative Tourism

The theme for this year is called "regenerative tourism." Regenerative tourism is different from sustainable tourism; it means contributing towards the restoration, revival, and regeneration of the environment, communities, and cultural heritage. According to the conference announcement, the sessions will include topics such as:

  • How to restore and improve tourism destinations
  • Protecting local culture and heritage
  • Making tourism stronger and safer in the face of climate change
  • Using technology and innovation for greener tourism
  • Success stories of community-based tourism in the region

These focus areas were highlighted in the official previews for the event.

Regional and Global Participation

The conference of TTRA Asia-Pacific annually brings together industry leaders, researchers, academicians, government officials, and other interested parties. The event in Nepal features keynote addresses, panel discussions, research presentations, workshops, and talks related to tourism recovery and future strategies.

Why Nepal Was Chosen

Nepal is globally known for its natural beauty, multi-cultures, and community-based tourism. This factor makes it a perfect host country for a conference themed around regenerative tourism. Foreign sources of international tourism claim that Nepal offers a perfect real-world example of how tourism can help protect nature, support local people, and preserve culture.

A Key Moment for Nepal’s Tourism Sector

Hosting the TTRA Asia-Pacific Conference 2025 is expected to:

  • Raise Nepal’s global profile in tourism research
  • Bring new international partnerships and collaborations
  • Support Nepal’s long-term plans for sustainable and responsible tourism
  • Highlight Nepal’s potential as a leader in regenerative tourism

As Kathmandu prepares to welcome participants from many countries, this event marks an important milestone for Nepal’s tourism industry and academic community.
